We know these are difficult and concerning times for everyone, so we are asking for your support at this time to keep all members of our community safe and well.

While we will continue to use Parentmail to update parents via email, their servers are currently overwhelmed nationally so please do keep an eye on this website. The latest update is available at the bottom of this page.

If we need to change the approach set out below, due to significant changes in the local or national situation, we will update this page. For now we feel this is sensible and proportionate to the current situation.

My child is feeling unwell, or I think they may have been exposed to the virus. What should I do?

Please follow the latest advice from the NHS (click here). The School cannot advise you any differently. We have a number of pupils and staff with complex medical conditions, so following this advice is essential.

Please notify us by email (not phone) of your child's absence and the reasons by 9am: pupil.absent@orchardjunior.com

If you do need further advice, on top of the NHS advice above, please contact:

Department for Education coronavirus helpline

The Department for Education coronavirus helpline is available to answer questions about COVID-19 relating to education and children’s social care. Staff, parents and young people can contact this helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday), 10am to 4pm (Saturday to Sunday)

What steps are the School taking to manage the situation?

The advice that we receive as a school from the Department for Education can be read here.

Will the School set work for my child to do at home, if they are well enough to do this?

Every child has access to Purple Mash. This is the online software that the children use in School and are familiar with and can be used to keep learning continuing whilst at home. It can be opened by clicking the icon below.

To help direct you as to which activities to do on Purple Mash, we will upload weekly timetables so you can see what lessons are taking place in school for each year group. This will become more detailed in the event of closure.

If your child cannot recall their username and password, please email pmloginrequest@orchardjunior.com with "PM Login" as the subject and we will resend (please note this is not an immediate service, but we will sort it out for you as soon as we can!)

Like always, we are not providing "packs of work" as the School's curriculum is largely "carrying on as normal" in terms of lessons and we simply do not have the capacity to send home individual work packs.

Children have been reissued with login details today (Tuesday 17th March)

If we need to change this approach, due to significant changes in the local or national situation, we will update this page.
